Do I Have to Pay For Google Workspace?

Google Workspace offers a 14-day free trial upon signing up, providing new users the opportunity to explore its features without immediate cost. Once this trial period ends and the paid subscription begins, Google initiates billing at the start of the following month. For example, if a paid subscription commences in May, the user will be billed at the beginning of June. Subsequently, the billing cycle renews automatically at the beginning of each month, ensuring a consistent and predictable payment schedule.

For users opting for the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan, which requires a yearly commitment, billing occurs differently. Google charges the full commitment amount immediately at the end of the first month of the billing cycle rather than monthly. This upfront payment covers the entire term of commitment. In instances where the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan is billed monthly, the user is charged monthly for one-twelfth of the annual commitment. This system simplifies budget planning for organizations with stable or growing workforces by providing cost predictability. Google Workspace subscription billing depends fundamentally on three key factors: the edition of Google Workspace, the billing plan selected, and the number of users or licenses.

Regarding features included in different plans, the Business Starter plan, costing approximately $6.30 USD per user per month with a 1-year commitment, offers 30 GB of pooled storage per user, secure custom business email, AI assistance through Gemini in Gmail and the Gemini app, 100 participant video meetings, Google Vids AI-powered video creation/editing, and standard security and management controls. The Business Standard plan, at $12.60 USD per user per month with a 1-year commitment, enhances offerings with 2 TB of pooled storage per user, Gemini AI assistant across multiple Google Workspace apps including Docs and Meet, 150 participant video meetings with recording and noise cancellation, eSignature capabilities, appointment booking pages, email layouts and mail merge, alongside standard security and management controls

When Google Workspace billing starts

Google Workspace offers a 14-day free trial when you sign up. Google immediately charges your primary payment method at the start of the following month once your monthly subscription begins. For instance, Google bill you at the start of June if your paid service begins in May. The billing cycle then resumes on its own at the start of every month.

Google charges you immediately at the end of the first month for your whole commitment term if you choose to pay annually for the Annual/Fixed-Term Plan.

How Your Monthly Payment is Calculated

If your Google Workspace subscription is billed every month, the total amount you pay each month is determined by three factors:

  • Your Google Workspace edition

The cost of the Business versions is displayed in the following table. For Enterprise editions, get in touch with Google Sales or your reseller.

Standard prices are shown.

Flexible Plan Annual/Fixed-Term Plan
Monthly payment Business Starter: $8.40 USD per user
Business Standard: $16.80 USD per user
Business Plus: $26.40 USD per user
Business Starter: $7 USD per user
Business Standard: $14 USD per user
Business Plus: $22 USD per user
  • Your billing plan

The Flexible Plan charges for the number of users you have in a given month.
The Annual/Fixed-Term Plan charges you for the exact number of licenses you signed up for through a yearly commitment. If your Annual/Fixed-Term Plan is billed monthly, you’re charged each month for one month’s portion of your annual charge. If you pay annually, you’re charged for the full year at the end of the first month of your commitment term.

  • Your number of users or licenses

You pay for as many users as you have each month when you use the Flexible Plan. Users can be added or removed at any time. The same fees that apply to active users also apply to suspended users.
We prorate your payments if you add or remove users during any given month. We only bill you for half a month of service if you add a user on April 1 and remove them on April 15.
